DIRECTOR OF ACADEMIC PROGRAMS, RELAY GSE
Antwan is the Director of Academic Programs at Relay Graduate School of Education, where he is leading the institution’s redesign of its teacher preparation curriculum for Math educators through the lens of Culturally Responsive Teaching and equitable teaching practices. He has also spent five years as part of the Relay GSE faculty, teaching and advising Secondary Math and Science teachers in district schools. Antwan began his teaching career as a founding faculty member (and then Assistant Head of School) at George Jackson Academy, an all-boys independent school for academically talented boys from low-income backgrounds. There, he taught middle school Math and Science and led the school’s curriculum and faculty development initiatives. Antwan is also proud to have spent four years as principal of his alma mater, St. Mark the Evangelist School, in Harlem. Antwan holds an M.S. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.S. in Urban Affairs and Non-Profit Management from CUNY Hunter College. In his free time, Antwan enjoys playing flag football and giving back, whether through his church community or mentoring other men of color.
